2023 RBC Capital Markets Pathways Diversity Award Program – Canada

RBC Capital Markets is committed to fostering inclusion and workplace diversity. Applications are now open for the 2023 RBC Capital Markets Canada Pathways Diversity Award Program (“Pathways”)!

Pathways is an early ID program designed to hire, grow, and retain outstanding undergraduate students who identify as Black and/or as an Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) person of Canada passionate about pursuing a career in Capital Markets.

Allied Van Lines Scholarship

Allied Van Lines is offering a $1,000 scholarship to four current or newly enrolling full-time students who pursue degrees in logistics or an equivalent field.

In order to participate in our scholarship contest, student applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian Citizen (or permanent resident).
  • Enrolled (or enrolling) as a full time student of an accredited college/university within Canada for completion of an undergraduate degree in Logistics or equivalent field.
  • Limit of one (1) entry per contestant.

Bill 7 Award Scholarship

The Bill 7 Award is a scholarship for individuals with demonstrated financial need after accessing available public financial supports. To be eligible to receive a Bill 7 Award scholarship, individuals must also meet ALL of the following three criteria:

  • You are attending or accepted by a Post-Secondary Educational Institution in the Province of Ontario
  • You are pursuing your FIRST post-secondary program of study
  • You identify as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, two-spirited or queer (LGBTQ)

CAEL Scholarships

CAEL CE is the leading academic English proficiency test for study in Canada and proud supporters of international students in their Canadian academic experiences.

Two scholarships worth $5,000 each will be awarded to two international students; one to an international student currently studying in Canada, and one to an international student currently studying overseas.

All applicants must have taken the CAEL CE on or after July 1, 2019, and must meet the following criteria:

  • Submit the CAEL CE Test for admissions to a Canadian university or college as proof of English language proficiency
  • Achieved a score of 70 or higher on CAEL CE

Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) Bursary

Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) is a not for profit organization supporting
women in the Canadian construction industry. One of its mandates is to promote education and
encourage women to pursue careers in the construction industry.

Each year CAWIC offers a number of $1,500.00 bursaries to female students enrolled in construction
related studies at Canadian post-secondary institutions.

In addition to the annual CAWIC Bursaries, a single $1,000.00 CAWIC Founders' Bursary is offered for
which a specific requirement applies.

Minimum qualifications are:

  • Applicant must identify as female
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Completed first year of a diploma or degree program at a college or university and full time enrolment in the subsequent year
  • Demonstrated clear career objectives relating to the construction industry
  • Evidence of financial need
  • Leadership qualities and involvement in community activities
  • Demonstrated interest in activities that further the advancement of women in construction, and involvement in related community activities

Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association of Windsor

Two scholarships of $1,000 and one bursary of $1,000 will be awarded to the son/daughter of a member of the Association or their immediate family who is of Italian origin, a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and is studying full-time.

The Canadian Nurses Foundation

The Canadian Nurses Foundation is committed to promoting the health and patient care of Canadians by financially supporting Canadian nurses engaged in higher education, research, home health-care and specialty certification; advocating dissemination and utilization of nursing knowledge.

Awards range from $750 to $3,000

Qualifications are based on the following criteria:

  • You must have already have completed, or be in the process of completing, at least one year in a nursing program, and have at least three complete semesters remaining after the application deadline.

Charlotte Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund – $3,000

The Charlotte Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund is available annually to Canadian Indigenous students in their 2nd+ years of Nursing at an accredited College or University in Ontario. Recipients are encourage to make every effort to obtain accreditation as a Registered Nurse in Ontario within a reasonable time following graduation and to practice Nursing in an Indigenous community.

Community Living Walkerton and District

CLWD is an organization which endeavors to promote effective practices of inclusion for all individuals. An educational bursary of $1,000.00 will be made available to a full-time post secondary student who demonstrates commitment toward stronger and inclusive communities.

Eligible applicants will:

  • Reside in Bruce County or Grey County in Ontario, Canada; it is understood that they may live elsewhere to attend school.
  • Be accepted to study full-time at a recognized Canadian institution in a post secondary program.
  • Submit to the selection committee a 500 word essay to demonstrate their personal and/or professional experiences and challenges in promoting inclusion for persons with disabilities.

Dick Martin Scholarship Award

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Dick Martin Scholarship Award program, administered by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). The Electrozad Supply Memorial Scholarship Award

The Electrozad Supply Memorial Scholarship Award, valued at $2,000, will be granted to a college or university student who has completed at least one year of study in the electrical techniques, electrical technician or Instrumentation disciplines. This scholarship is in memory of Bryan Smith, Electrozad's first sales representative, past President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. Eligible students must have demonstrated community service through volunteerism, have achieved a cumulative average of 75%, be a Canadian citizen, and preference will be given to relatives of Electrozad Supply, its customers and its vendor partners. ENWIN Utilities Ltd. The Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship is a non-discriminatory, educational scholarship program for the benefit of non-traditional students. Garry Douglas Memorial Scholarship

The award is in memory of Garry Douglas, a dedicated Project Developer and a true master in his field who had a mind for tasteful and unique design solutions as well as the structural knowledge required to bring his creations to life.

Gil Purcell Memorial Journalism Scholarship

An award to encourage Aboriginal Canadians to pursue a career in journalism through a combination of studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution and experience in a newsroom.

Eligibility:

  • Student must be Aboriginal (status or non-status Indian, Metis or Inuit)
  • and enrolled at a Canadian university or community college in a journalism program,
  • or actively involved with a news organization associated with the institution (such as a student newspaper of broadcast station)

Global Television Network Broadcasters of the Future Awards

Internship Award for a Canadian with a Physical Disability
This annual Scholarship-Internship Award is offered to a Canadian student with a mobility impairment and provides educational assistance as well as a challenging opportunity to work in private television in pursuit of a career in broadcasting. The Award, valued at up to $15,000, covers all tuition fees* and textbooks* for one full scholastic year of a radio and television arts program or journalism program at a recognized Canadian university or college, commencing in the Fall. The Award also includes a three or four-month Internship at the Global Television Network in Don Mills (Toronto), for the summer and moving expenses associated with the Internship. In addition, the Award covers transportation, hotel and attendance expenses at the Canadian Association of Broadcasters annual convention, in November, where the award will be presented. *as determined by the specific university or college course outline

Gunn’s Hill Winds Farm Renewable Educational Bursary for Indigenous Students & Members of the Six Nations

The Gunn’s Hill Limited Partnership is now accepting applications for the 2019 Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm Educational Bursaries. Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm Educational Bursary for Indigenous Students, and the Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm Educational Bursary are members of the Six Nations of the Grand River.

Horatio Alger National Vocational & Technical Education Scholarship Program

This program provides financial assistance to students across Canada who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by Spring, be enrolled in a 3 years or less technical degree/certificate program in Fall that will lead to employment, be under the age of 30 and be a Canadian citizenship.

The Association will award 25 scholarships with a maximum amount of $3,000 depending on the length of the program and the need of the student.

Houzz welcomes all students 18 years of age or older at interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, and architectural engineering schools in the U.S. and Canada to apply for one of our four scholarships. William Peyton Hubbard Memorial Award
Two awards are available annually to black students attending an Ontario college or university. The award value is based on one (1) year's tuition ($4,000 university or $2,000 college). Given to a black female and a black male student who has completed one year of study and is currently in the second year of one of the following programs: Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Science, (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) Business/Technology.

Recipients must:

  • be of good academic standing;
  • demonstrate good, oral and written communication skills;
  • demonstrate leadership skills;
  • be involved in extra-curricular activities within the community or campus;
  • not be receiving more than one other award of equal or greater value in his/her second year;

James Lee Foundation Scholarship

Criteria:

The scholarship is open to emerging creative talent from across Canada wanting to enter the advertising industry. Entrants must be non-professional Canadian residents over the age of 16. Kay Sansom Scholarships

Three awards of $1,000 each and a one-year membership in OADD are available to Ontario students with interests in developmental disabilities. One award is presented in each of three categories:

  • medical and/or graduate students,

  • community college students.

The Award must be used to pursue a full-time, specific educational goal in a recognized program associated with a professional discipline related to developmental disabilities. It may not be used for travel. Financial need may be considered.

Kevin Collins Abilities Scholarship

The Kevin Collins Abilities Scholarship is presented to a post-secondary student with a disability.

For more than 17 years, Kevin Collins served as the Executive Director of Friends of We Care, an organization composed of Foodservice and Hospitality industry members whose mission is to send kids with disabilities to accessible summer camps across Canada. During his tenure, Kevin led the group in raising over $20.5 million and established a national presence for Friends of We Care.

In February 2017, Kevin accepted the position of President and CEO at Easter Seals Ontario, an organization that assists children with physical disabilities and their families. The move provided Kevin the opportunity to come full circle. He was born with cerebral palsy, attended Easter Seals camps for eight summers and was the first Easter Seals ambassador “Timmy” in 1976.

Kevin’s determination to not let anything stand in his way exemplifies what it means to focus on one’s ABILITY, not disability. We Care is proud to present this award to a future leader to help them realize their career ambitions.

NEADS National Student Awards Program

The NEADS National Student Awards Program is offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education for persons with disabilities, who often have greater barriers to participation in higher education, as well as extra costs because of their disabilities. Students must currently be registered in and continuing at post-secondary institution and provide documented proof of registration as part of the application and on receipt of the award. The award will be offered to outstanding applicants who meet the criteria of the program. The awards are paid directly to the post-secondary institution (in the student's accounts) that the recipients are attending to defray the cost of tuition fees for post-secondary study.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada
  • Applicants must have a permanent disability*
  • Applicants must be currently registered in and returning to a full-time program of study at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university. Full-time status is at least 40% of a full course load.

*For the purpose of these awards, a permanent disability is a permanent functional limitation which affects the ability of the student to participate fully in post-secondary education.

The Nora's Nursery Scholarship is open to parents that are current students pursuing a higher education or looking to go back to school that meet the following criteria:

  • You are currently enrolled at an accredited university/college in Canada for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

  • Your education will continue in the 2023 Fall semester.
  • You are a legal citizen in Canada, or have a valid student visa.

Ontario Parks Association

The OPA Foundation has made available a total of five bursaries worth $2,000 each and three scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each. Any bursary or scholarship awarded by The Ontario Parks Association Foundation is to be used towards:

  • Payment of tuition fees
  • The purchase of course materials (academic books and supplies)
  • Residency
  • Other associated educational expenses

Our financial awards program is available to students at any level of post-secondary studies in a multi-year college or university program in parks, horticulture, landscaping, conservation, or environmental resource management. Students can be entering their second year of studies, last year of studies, pursuing their Masters, or anywhere in between to qualify, so long as their field of study falls within one of the above fields.

Pinsky Law Office New Venture Development Scholarship Criteria

In order to be eligible for the CAD$5,000 New Venture Development Scholarship, the applicants must meet the criteria outlined below:

Must be enrolled in Canada or overseas in a university (undergraduate/graduate programme) or community/professional college during the academic year of 2024 - 2025;

Must be in good standing with the university or community/professional college they attend;

Community Living Windsor offers an opportunity to assist people who have an intellectual disability to follow their dreams and goals as they continue their education past high school.

Eligibility:

  • A person who has an intellectual disability, lives in the Windsor/Essex County area and is connected to Community Living Windsor.

Award: up to $1,000

Guideline:

  1. Application forms can be filled out and submitted to the Review Committee. There is no application deadline.
  2. The award winner(s) will be informed within two months of submission.
  3. The money will be given to the award winner following the notification. Winners are asked to attend the Annual General Meeting in June.
  4. Application forms will be read by a Review Committee made up of a member of the Board of Directors, the Manager of Communications/Staff Development, a self-advocate, and the Executive Director. The award winner(s) will be decided by the Board of Directors. There can be up to 5 awards presented in one calendar year.
  5. A student can only receive the award once.
  6. The award can be used to help cover the cost of a course, clothes, textbooks, and transportation.
  7. If the award money is given and the student does not continue their education, the money must be returned.

The Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities

Rick and Amanda Hansen believe that people of all abilities should have the right to a barrier-free education. The Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities, funded generously by the April 1 Foundation, provides financial support to Canadian youth with disabilities to pursue post-secondary education and realize their full potential.

This scholarship aims to make a profound impact on the lives of Canadian youth with disabilities by removing financial barriers and supporting career aspirations through post-secondary education.

Funding of up to $10,000 per year (up to a maximum of $40,000) is available for youth with disabilities looking to complete a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program at a publicly funded institution in Canada.

S.M.A.R.T. SCHOLARSHIP

S.W.I.M.'s unique scholarship program provides financial assistance to single mothers wishing to further their education in a post-secondary academic program. Each year, a single mother is awarded the Strong Mothers Achieving Remarkable Triumph (S.M.A.R.T.) Scholarship, and is provided with the opportunity to better her own and her child/children's lives. Recipients are celebrated during our annual London's Got Talent fundraiser, an event bringing the community together to support and commemorate all single mothers. To date, S.W.I.M. has awarded over $9,000 in scholarships, and is committed to expanding our program's applicants and winners.

Storwell Bursary

Storwell offers an annual bursary of $2,000 to support foster children as they pursue their post-secondary education and to help them as they progress into a new and exciting stage of their lives.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must have been a foster child with an official Canadian or American foster care program and agrees to having the above organization verify the same.
  • Will be enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized general/ vocational College or post-secondary institution in Canada or USA as of Sept.
  • Canadian or American Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Applicant must be 24 years of age or less at the time of application
  • Winner agrees to having his/her name, photo and post secondary institution displayed on the Storwell website.

The Sunshine Coast Health Centre Scholarship

As a leader in addiction treatment, Sunshine Coast Health Centre is proud to announce a new scholarship opportunity for $1000 to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in clinical counselling, psychology, social sciences, medical, and nursing programs who are interested in working in addictions and mental health in Canada.

In order to qualify for this scholarship, students need to be:

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

This is an annual scholarship, valued at $4,000 and renewable for up to four years. Students must be studying towards a first degree or diploma, be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and not over 25 years of age. Demonstration of the highest ideals and qualities of citizenship will be criteria for the selection of recipients. Further relevant qualities are courage in overcoming obstacles, involvement in humanitarian service and participation in sport, fitness and community service.

Tim Hickman Memorial Health and Safety Scholarship

Each year a $3000 scholarship is available to persons currently enrolled full time in an occupational and or public health and safety related program at a Southwest or Central-West Ontario college or university. This may include occupational safety/health/hygiene, occupational/physical therapy, nursing, medicine, emergency services or other related fields.

Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Institute - SixSurgery Scholarship

SixSurgery, a leader in cosmetic and plastic surgery, will award a $1,000 scholarship to one deserving student who has demonstrated leadership in medical or health-related fields. A winner will be selected according to their academic achievements, and their submission of a short essay or video presentation.

Criteria: Students must submit a 500-word short answer or 2-min video answering a question related to the future of our industry. Please visit the application page for more details.

Eligibility: The Six Surgery Scholarship is open to students pursuing higher education who meet the following criteria:

As an ally and resource to the membership, UFCW Canada is committed to providing opportunities to improve the future of members and their families. One initiative we're particularly proud of is the Beggs-Dowling-Mathieu Scholarships Program which over the past two decades has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and members of their families. Allocated by regions across Canada these scholarships are named as a lasting tribute to three past leaders of our union: William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Roméo Mathieu.

Each year UFCW Canada offers 18 annual Beggs-Dowling-Mathieu Scholarships of $1,000 each to active members and their family members for post-secondary study. If you are a UFCW Canada member, you, your spouse and children are eligible to apply if you are attending full-time studies at a Canadian university, college, or other recognized post-secondary institution.
