Learners will discover the principles, duties, and responsibilities of security personnel necessary to work effectively within the security industry. The learner will be introduced to the Canadian Legal System and explore the authority it provides to security personnel. In addition, learners will receive working knowledge in emergency response preparation, sensitivity training, and health and safety issues. Detailed knowledge of basic security practices and procedures is provided through investigation of the security industry, the legislation encompassed in the Private Security & Investigative Act, and the Ministry of the Solicitor General Code of Conduct. Force theory based on the National Model is examined as well as effective communications and report writing necessary for people working in the security industry. Finally, learners will receive training in emergency level first aid and receive first aid certification.
