The basic functions of the human body and its importance in an esthetician's career will be discussed. Topics include the structures and location of the numerous tissues and organs of the body; the 10 systems of the body, their location, function and how they interrelate. The importance of healthy skin and body will be emphasized. The student will become familiar with various skin disorders and in order to help determine whether these conditions can be treated in a salon or would require medical attention. The study of nutrition and it's effects on the skin will be discussed.
