What is a Student Success Officer?

A Student Success Officer is here to provide guidance, information, and support to students so they can meet their academic goals. Students are often unsure of what resources are available and how to access them, so our office is here to help!

The Role of the Student Success Officer:

The role of the Student Success Officer is to provide one-on-one assistance to students in answering questions related to their college experience. The Student Success Officer will work with students to ensure that they are referred to appropriate services within the college and will offer support throughout this process.

The Student Success Officer can answer questions and provide referrals to these services and more:

  • Counselling Services
  • Accessibility Services
  • Mental Health Counselling
  • First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Services
  • Tutoring Services
  • Learning Strategies and Assistive Technology
  • Testing Services
  • Library Services
  • Health Services
  • Registration
  • Financial Aid
  • Career Services

Some of the regular communication from our office includes:

  • The monthly Student Health 101 magazine
  • Midterm progress report information and follow-up for students with red status
  • Phone survey offering information on college support services

Who does the Student Success Officer provide support to:

  • All students attending St. Clair College can contact the Student Success Officer for support
  • Ongoing support for all WSIB sponsored students, students with the On Track to Success program, and students referred by the Children’s Aid Society
