An introductory course designed to provide a general knowledge of commonly used thermal metalworking processes such as welding and cutting. This course also has a practical element to develop competencies in shielded metal arc welding in the flat position, oxy-fuel welding, brazing, and cutting. Theory and shop demonstrations will also provide a basic understanding of G.T.A.W. S.M.A.W. and G.M.A.W. processes and equipment. Interpretation of weld symbols, metal preparation and forming, layout, fitting, and finishing skills will also be introduced.
