Administration, Acts And Legalities

Students will examine the scope and role of Respiratory Therapy professional and regulatory bodies with an emphasis on the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), the Respiratory Therapy Act (RTA) and the College of Respiratory Therapy of Ontario (CRTO). Administrative skills will be discussed as they relate to the practice of respiratory therapy and departmental function including examination of quality assurance, policy and procedure, self/peer evaluations, and intra/inter departmental relationships. Students will learn basic concepts, principles and terminology related to research, the application of evidence based medicine to their practice and evaluation of published research.
