An introduction to mechanical, chemical and biological methods used to treat industrial and municipal wastewater. In addition, methods of managing, operating and maintaining wastewater plants as well as the legislation and permitting required to properly dispose wastewater will be examined. Focus will also be on plant maintenance and administration concepts such as project management methods, internal and external communication structures, components of preventive maintenance, personnel training, well-written procedures, and the importance of the quality of record keeping. Environmental emission monitoring systems, management programs, data interpretation, specific environmental controls and equipment, troubleshooting, sampling points and protocols for the main control parameters will be discussed as well.
