Students will be taught the theory of maintenance and safe operation of powerline vehicles in constructing single phase powerlines. The course will cover safe operation and maintenance of Radial Boom Derrick and Bucket trucks including how hydraulic systems operate. Students will be given the theory of various methods of bucket rescue and evacuation. They will learn the various methods to install and remove poles and anchors. The course will introduce rigging principals including lifting devices and pulling grips. A variety of conductor stringing and splicing methods will be discussed. Conductor grounding and bonding fundamentals will also be discussed.
