This advanced course is designed to enable students to identify real ethical applications relating to the Paralegal Code of Conduct. while putting paralegal knowledge and skills such as interviewing time-management file- management interpersonal communication and problem solving into practice. Students will participate in a "satellite forms clinic placement" to provide assistance to members of the public in filling out regulatory forms and interpreting regulatory documents (within the permitted scope of paralegal practice) while concurrently participating in a virtual legal office simulation laboratory to perform various tasks carried out in a typical legal office. In addition to the practical experience students will have the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the need for access to justice and professional responsibility through the completion of a related community project.
