During this course, students will examine the basic concepts of donor relations and fundraising from the perspective of the non-profit sector. The corporate perspective of fundraising for charities and response to donor requests will also be examined. Students will also learn the planning process required to stage a special event, including the how to use research to determine the best type of event for a non-profit client; they will conduct meetings with clients to determine venue, theme, activities, and timing. Students will learn to use specific software with planning templates for logistics, sponsorship, promotion and marketing, on-site co-ordination, and event accounting.
