This course builds on the basic concepts of occupational therapy (OT) raising skills to the practice entry level for the OTA. The course covers the use of therapeutic techniques and their application to specific patient populations. Students will learn more advanced therapeutic skills that are used to facilitate a person's participation in occupation, daily living, and leisure activities. Content will include more advanced topics in the therapeutic use of occupations and activities, therapeutic exercise, adaptive techniques and equipment, ergonomics and environmental adaptation. The course will also cover therapeutic skills such as group work and teaching. Both classroom and lab components are required in this course.
