This course is designed to introduce the student to data representation storage and transmission as used on the World Wide Web. Topics covered will include XML (Extensible Markup Language) including describing data with XML (Well-Formed documents) and, validating XML (Using DTDs & XML Schemas); SQL (Structured Query Language) emphasizing data retrieval queries but include all DML (Data Manipulation Language) and DDL (Data Definition Language);, Database design methodologies including data normalization and ERDs (Entity Relation Diagrams).
