This course will introduce the principles of plastic injection mold design in a simulated workshop setting. Students will cover the theory of materials and mechanics, and will apply their knowledge to the design of a simple 2-plate injection mold on PC Cad that will meet industrial standards utilizing standard components. The design will be complete including all dimensioning and notations required for the manufacture of the mold. Emphasis is placed on the design of plastic parts for moldability.
