WHMIS/Health and Safety - Culinary Course Overview (2 - 3 Days) The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is required training in Canada for all workplaces using hazardous materials. Workplaces must provide training to their Employees. WHMIS is a Canada-wide regulation in place since 1988. This program will be of use and benefit to all students. The course is designed for all students and intended to provide individuals with the skills they require to protect their health and safety using the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. The Occupational Health and Safety Act under which WHMIS is administered states that employees have the "Right to KNOW" this includes any potential hazardous material they might be exposed to in the workplace. This program has been developed to meet the training standards for a generic WHMIS course. The course also includes either a video or slide show whichever one is possible to show. Each learner will be required to complete a WHMIS test.
