This course introduces the student to the basic principles of fluid power using both pneumatic and hydraulic fluid along with principles of safety when using fluids to transmit energy. Components utilized in the generation of pressurized fluid, preparation, and control of pneumatic or hydraulic fluids will be examined for their purpose, characteristics of operation and implementation in circuits. Additionally, component depiction in/for schematic diagrams utilizing standard symbols, basic circuit design, and circuit logic will be covered. The student will be able to select industrially used fluid power hardware and to design simple fluid power control circuits.
