The Dental Radiography: Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) Approved Certification Program is specifically designed for individuals with a dental background, including those currently employed in a dental practice in Ontario and internationally trained dental practitioners. This program aims to ensure participants meet the qualification standards set by the HARP Act. The comprehensive course covers the clinical, theoretical, legal, and practical aspects of dental radiography, encompassing the exposure, processing, and handling of dental radiographs. Participants engage in hands-on practical sessions to master various intraoral radiographic techniques, ensuring the production of diagnostically valuable images. Key topics include standard intraoral radiographic techniques, radiation hygiene practices, and a thorough understanding of provincial and federal regulations, including the HARP Act. Additionally, the course emphasizes essential client management skills, ensuring effective patient interactions and comfort during radiographic procedures. Upon successful completion, participants will have demonstrated their ability to meet all HARP Act requirements, qualifying them to operate x-ray machines in Ontario.
