This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of pacemaker therapy. Students learn the basic physics and principles of electricity as a foundation for pacemaker technology. Various types of pacemakers and their specific functions and modes of operation are discussed. Students develop skills to analyze pacer electrocardiograms and as well as techniques for pacemaker interrogation, programming and troubleshooting. Temporary pacing procedures are also be reviewed.
