This is an intermediate level course in analytical chemistry that combines classroom discussions with practical hands-on investigations in the laboratory. In the classroom learning will be maximized by an effective combination of PowerPoint presentations with textbook and real world examples. In the laboratory students will investigate important analytical targets using standardized techniques prescribed by regulatory agencies such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Ontario's Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment. Emphasis will be placed on the demonstration of analytical and critical thinking through knowledgeable and effective communication as well as accurate and precise experimental results.
