This course will discuss the fundamentals of WHMIS legislation and the Ontario Health and Safety Act. Emphasis will be given to the relevance of these statues to the employee and the importance of the workers "Right to Know". The course will also discuss other components concerning health and safety in an industrial workplace. Emphasis will be given to the following topics: occupational stressors, hazard sources and recognition, monitoring techniques and interpretation of testing results, limit values and methods of control. The importance of accident prevention, emergency plans and ergonomics will also be addressed.
