St. Clair College Women’s Basketball 2-2 in Montreal

(Montreal, Quebec) - The St. Clair College Women’s Basketball team was the most successful Ontario school at the Dawson College Winter Classic Tournament this past weekend in Montreal recording a 2-2 record. The Lady Saints notched wins against Vanier College (Montreal, QC) and Champlain College Lennoxville (Sherbrooke, QC) but suffered losses against host Dawson College and Collège Montmorency (Laval, QC). Dawson is the top ranked team in Canada while Montmorency is ranked 7th in the nation.

Flight delays on Thursday required the host to delay tip an hour so the Saints could get to their first match-up with top ranked Dawson who prevailed 85-47. Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) was the only St. Clair in double figures with 18 points.

On Friday St. Clair opened with a 59-51 win over Vanier College with Kucera leading her team with 21 points. Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) and Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) each also reached double figures with 17 and 13 points respectively. The Saints were not so lucky in their second game Friday dropping a 97-44 decision to Montmorency with Ulicny scoring 19 points in the loss.

In their final game Saturday St. Clair upended Champlain College Lennoxville by a score of 69-52 with Kucera potting 20 points to lead the Saints offensively. Bazzi had 15 points with Ulicny chipping in with 13 points.
