St. Clair College’s VALORANT and Rocket League teams are heading to Arlington, Texas for the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC) North American Championship.
The VALORANT team entered the qualifier as the #1 ranked team in North America and as a heavy favourite to win. The predictions were correct, as the Saints ran through Stockton University, Harrisburg University, University of Central Florida and Fisher College to qualify for CECC for the second-straight year. Last year, the VALORANT squad finished in the Top 8.
Saints Rocket League entered their qualifier as a dark horse, ranked at #16 in North America. The Saints ran the gauntlet, taking down #6 Harrisburg University and #4 Fisher College on route to a berth in the Championship Final.
“Both teams are heating up at the most important time of the year,” said Assistant Esports Director Chris Funston. “Our Rocket League squad has proven to be underrated and the VALORANT team continues to show why they are the top ranked program in all of North America. We’re looking forward to representing St. Clair College, and Canada, in Texas.”
The teams will travel to Arlington, Texas for CECC held from May 3-5. There they will take on the top teams in collegiate esports including Michigan State University, Boise State University, Illinois State University, Purdue University, and Arizona State University.
