A project that involved a three-way partnership between St. Clair College, Longterm Technology Services Inc., a technology-based company in London, and the mold making industry has resulted in a win for all three parties.

The project involved computer-aided design (CAD) models, which are used in the mold industry in order to design and visualize parts prior to manufacturing.

Area food banks got a big boost just in time for the holidays with a $75,267 donation from ticket sales for the Sleighing Hunger concert – the largest amount raised to date.

St. Clair College partnered with Caesars Windsor and local band The S'Aints six years ago to raise money for area food banks at the annual Sleighing Hunger holiday concert at the Colosseum.

The president of the Windsor Goodfellows said the organization could not do the work it does without community partners like St. Clair College.

President Patti France was out early Thursday morning, handing out the annual edition of the Windsor Goodfellows newspaper, which helps raise funds to purchase Christmas baskets for families in need during the holidays and throughout the year.

Five third-year marketing students brought home medals from the recent Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition, besting hundreds of students from much larger institutions.

"We like to call it the Marketing Olympics for Colleges," said Nicole Rourke, a marketing professor and long-time coach for the students who participate in the annual competition.

St. Clair College Graphic Design student Megan Saxton's clean and simple illustration of a Gingerbread House was the winning entry for the cover of The S'Aints' 2019 CD to commemorate the band's upcoming holiday concert.

St. Clair College President Patti France applauded the province's recent announcement to cut red tape and remove barriers so colleges can partner with the private sector to provide students with high-quality education and training that prepares them for Ontario's workforce.

St. Clair College will be delivering a customized training program to train new employees at AarKel Tool and Die Inc. in Wallaceburg.

St. Clair College instructors will teach the new hires in precision metal cutting CNC machining at the company's Elm Drive location to supply local skilled labour for its Wallaceburg facilities.

When Derric'Ka Talbot first heard about St. Clair College's pre-apprentice program through Women's Enterprise Skills Training (WEST), she didn't believe such a thing existed.

"Free schooling?" she thought.
