Indigenous People and Child Welfare

This course examines the past and present state of child welfare in Ontario including the influence of policies and practices on Indigenous communities. Topics will include child welfare approaches from both contemporary and cultural perspectives the development of Indigenous child welfare services in Canada as well as advocacy and education in child welfare. Students will also study the relationships between child welfare agencies in Ontario and Indigenous people.
