This, the first of three typography courses, is designed to provide students with a foundation of basic lettering and type design skills. Through the study of typography history, anatomy and categories, all design characteristics of type will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on hand lettering skills and consistent typographic design. Students will study and practice historical writing styles utilizing traditional techniques in preparation for digital media.
