This course introduces students to the vocation of graphic design through an exploration of the elements and principles of design. Students will observe, analyze and discuss examples across multiple disciplines in an effort to better understand the relationship of design fundamentals to the world around us. Skill building will occur through a series of design exercises and projects which focus on specific elements and principles, with an emphasis on creativity and clarity. Introductory colour theory will be explored relating to colour mixing and harmonious colour systems.
