This course explores the role that codes of ethics play in the self-regulation of the dental hygiene profession. The components of professional ethics will be examined focusing on the core ethical issues within the dental hygiene field. Students will learn how the provisions of the code are enforced and the impact their enforcement has on society. This course will provide students with the opportunity to discuss and evaluate the application of foundational concepts of professional codes of ethics to real life situations.
