This course will provide knowledge of the history of universal health care in Canada. The structure of our health care system and the relationship between various governmental agencies will be reviewed. The Canadian health care system will be compared with other health care systems. The role and function of World Health Organization (WHO) and the Chief Dental Officer of Canada will be described. Issues such as health care costs, access, equity, multiculturalism, aboriginal health, health care reform, inter-professional health care and e-health are discussed.
