This course emphasizes the structure of the nail, its diseases and abnormalities. Attention is placed on the importance of sanitation and sterilization of manicure implements. Students will develop an awareness of the anatomy of the hand and arm as well as the development and growth of nails. Students will be instructed in basic manicure procedures; the study of nail diseases and irregularities; the manicurist/client relationship; nail tip application; methods of nail repairs and the application and benefits of paraffin treatments to the hands. In addition, students will gain practical experience in performing professional spa manicures, hand drawn nail art and developing client relationships.
