This course is an in-depth study of counterfeiting and fraud related offences as they relate to the Customs Act, Criminal Code and the Immigration Refugee Protection Act. Students receive instruction in areas of evidence in order to understand what is required to successfully prosecute fraud and counterfeiting offences. Through the use of instructional videos, class discussion, and hands-on practical exercises, students learn the role of border services in court proceedings including the preparation of various documents and evidence. In addition, the role of local police and the courts in the release of persons in custody for fraud and/or counterfeiting offences when entering or exiting Canada are explored
