Job Descriptions and Requirements:

The Sexual Violence Prevention team at St. Clair College is seeking members to assist and support the promotion of sexual violence prevention and awareness on campus. The team is looking for energetic and passionate individuals who are motivated to help create a difference. Tasks will include facilitating groups, supporting and representing the initiative at events, and attending monthly committee meetings.

Candidates are encouraged to bring creative ideas about prevention from a student lens. The ideal candidates for this position are reliable, professional, personable, and passionate about the subject matter. Male and female representation on the team is vital.

St. Clair College is searching for a Day Camp Trainer to join our Research and Innovation department. This role will involve working closely with the Project Facilitator and Camp Facilitator and acting as a liaison between the camp participants, as the Day Camp Trainer leads Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) lessons and activities of the Summer Camp Program. The Day Camp Trainer will be responsible for delivering the STEM curriculum material with the team as well as providing day camp programming for students in grades 4-12.

Summary:

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and Camp Facilitator to develop and implement the STEM Summer Camp to the youth.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the STEM curriculum material and engaging youth in the STEM Summer Camp programming and activities.
  • Communication bridge between the students, community partners, and the Program Manager and Camp Facilitator.
  • Assist in developing and editing the STEM curriculum material as well as develop summer camp programming.
  • Supervise and engage with STEM Summer Day Camp participants and community partners.
  • Monitor the daily operations of STEM summer camp program focusing on camp activity execution and communicating with community partners.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of camp activities and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all college policies and research ethics guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant combination of experience and education, including a 3-year diploma/degree.
  • Hold or in pursuant of a STEM related degree or a similar discipline is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience of day camp operations in an academic environment is highly desirable. Day camp experience is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple partners simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership skills being able to communicate needs and tasks while maintaining a strong schedule.

  • Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all college policies and research ethics guidelines.
  • The goal is to ensure students are provided with relevant experiential learning under the guidance of the Researcher and ensuring industry partner deliverables are met.

Qualifications:

  • Hold or in pursuant of a Master’s degree in the field of Social Science or a similar discipline is an asset.
  • Experience in project management, particularly in a research or academic setting.
  • Knowledge of the qualitative/ mixed methods/ quantitative research methodology and designs is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • For workflow purposes, knowledge of the Research Ethics Board applications, literature reviews, and methodology processes as well as utilizing an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lens is a definite asset.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to create compelling narratives for stories and develop social media messaging. 
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work with dynamic deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team while working independently to meet deadlines.
  • Photography, videography, and video editing skills are a plus.
