Champs holding trophy

St. Clair College’s VALORANT and Call of Duty teams are National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Champions.

The Saints Call of Duty team took on top-ranked Oklahoma Christian University in the Grand Finals at the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress this past weekend. The Saints had yet to defeat Oklahoma this season, losing their last 3 matches to the Eagles including last semester's Grand Finals.

The Saints decided to flip the script in this semester’s championship match, coming out firing on all cylinders on route to a dominant 4-1 series victory. This is the first NACE Championship in the history of the Saints Call of Duty team.

In the VALORANT Grand Finals, the Saints entered as the favourites where they took on collegiate powerhouse Maryville University. Despite a rough start, the Saints bounced back quickly to dispatch Maryville to earn their second-straight NACE North American Championship with a 2-1 victory.

“The teams have all worked so hard, not just this year, but for several semesters now to get to this point,” said Assistant Esports Director Chris Funston. “This is a culmination of years worth of time and effort from everyone involved in the program.”

NACE is the world’s largest collegiate esports league, with more than 20,000 active student participants representing nearly 900 schools.
