Powerline students will compete at the college's training facility on Bear Line Road in various events, including pole top rescue, ring the bell, climbing relay, don't break the egg and installing grounds.
This year marks the 10th anniversary for the Powerline Rodeo. The Rodeo has strong support from employers, local Optimist Club, students, and industry partners.
St. Clair College is the largest post secondary trainer with 150 students in the Powerline Technician program delivered out of the National Powerline Training Centre in Ontario. The program has average of 55 to 60 graduates per year with 65% employment rate.
"The Powerline Rodeo is an opportunity for students to showcase their skills to employers, family, parents, and our community. First and second year students safely compete in several events where they are assessed by their faculty. Employers are invited to watch the students demonstrate their skills with many employers offering careers opportunities to the graduates". mentioned Mark Benoit.
