Federal government suspends flights from India and Pakistan for 30 days | St. Clair College

International students from India and Pakistan scheduled to arrive in Canada in the upcoming weeks will not be allowed to travel for the next 30 days, following the federal government's announcement Thursday suspending flights from those countries amid surging COVID-19 cases.

The government's order, effective at 11:30 p.m. April 22, covers commercial and private passenger flights. Passengers arriving to Canada from these countries via indirect route after the order takes effect will need to obtain a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test at their last point of departure.

The COVID-19 immigration regulations permit International students to continue their programs of study remotely from their home country until December 31, 2021. The temporary travel restrictions will not adversely affect the education of those students or their ability to obtain a work permit.
