St. Clair Women's Volleyball Improve to 2-0

(Windsor, Ontario) - The St. Clair college women’s volleyball team opened their OCAA home schedule with a solid 3-1 win over the Mohawk Mountaineers on Friday night at the Sportsplex in front a great crowd on Saints Fight Cancer Night. Set scores for the Saints were 25-21, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-21.

It was all around team effort offensively for St. Clair with 5 players contributing 9 or more points. Setter Kim Quintanilla (Windsor; St. Josephs) moved the ball around well throughout the match picking up 32 assists. Jessica Masse (Cottam; Essex District) led the way for St. Clair with 12 kills on 25 attempts, 2 service aces and 2 stuff blocks. Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) chipped in with 11 kills, 2 stuff blocks and 7 digs. Jordyn Pranger (London; Medway) had a solid game as well with 10 kills, 1 service ace and 13 digs. Rookie Amelia Oliverio (Windsor; St. Josephs) also had a great match with 7 kills, 4 service aces and 13 digs. With the win the Saints improved to 2-0 on the season.

St. Clair College Men’s Basketball Trounce Redeemer in Home Opener

(Windsor, Ontario) - The St. Clair College Men’s Basketball team evened their OCAA West Division regular season record at 1-1 with a resounding 99-71 victory over Redeemer University College (Ancaster) in their league home opener Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

The Saints were not hospitable from the outset forcing the pace on the visitors and opened 24-17 after the 1st quarter. Redeemer fought to stay within striking distance but by halftime St. Clair led 52-40 and several long runs in the 3rd quarter saw the home team lead by as much as 30 points. In fact St. Clair held Redeemer to just 11 points in the 3rd quarter but did their damage overall scoring 32 points off 20 turnovers in the game.

3rd year transfer guard David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, MI) scored a game high 29 points for St. Clair adding 3 assists leading four Saints in double figures. Jalen Sykes (Redford, MI) scored 17 points adding 5 rebounds with Ian Smart (Chatham, ON) tallying 14 points and 5 rebounds. 3rd year guard Juwan Lynch (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) came off the bench to score 11 points for the Saints. 2nd year guard Ali Mansour served as the delivery man for St. Clair with a gaudy 12 assists to go with 3 points, 3 rebounds and 5 steals.

St. Clair College Women’s Basketball Win League Home Opener

(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women’s Basketball team put on a good show in their OCAA West Division regular season home opener with a 77-61 victory over Redeemer University College (Ancaster) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

St. Clair played even with the visitors in the early stages but a late push saw them take a 20-13 advantage into the 2nd quarter. The Lady Saints extended their lead to 37-24 by halftime and never looked back working to their largest gap in the 4th quarter of 20 points.

2nd year guard Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) led the Saints with 21 points adding 10 rebounds for the double-double and filled the stat sheet with 6 assists to go with 4 steals. Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) scored 16 points with teammate Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) chipping in with 15 points and 9 assists.
