This course is a continuation of Gerontology Fieldwork Seminar I. The course content promotes a general knowledge of field placement expectations and addresses ethics, professionalism, and management skills in preparation for the field placement environment. Exploration of field placement options, selection criteria, developing and/or refining learning goals and preparing learning contracts for placement are emphasized. Practical skills required for a successful field placement experience are explored. Topics addressed include behavioural expectations, communication, agency expectations and roles, the role of students within an organization, how to use an agency orientation process, how to use supervision, paperwork and recording, boundaries, ethical dilemmas, self exploration, personal learning responsibility and student evaluation.
