This course examines the Canadian Labour movement by looking at the history of Unions in Canada as well as the effect Organized Labour has had on the development of Canadian society as a whole. Students will analyze historic strikes/lockouts, explore how unions have confronted social inequality, learn how unions operate, uncover how they have improved working conditions, and examine how workers interact with each other to improve working conditions. This General Education course aligns with the Civic Life and the Social and Cultural Understanding themes.
