This course will examine the later period of the adult lifespan stressing the interaction of psychological, socio-cultural, and biological aspects of human aging and development., Emphasis will be placed upon examining the myths and misconceptions we have in our society concerning aging. General topics of this course will include: (1) demographics (2) theories of aging and development (3) physiological, cognitive, emotional and social processes and issues affecting aging (4) selected problems and transitions associated with the late adulthood lifestage
