The late actor Peter Ustinov once observed that, Terrorism is the war of the poor while war is the terrorism of the rich. Whether one agrees with his view or not, it is clear that since September 11th, 2001, nothing has dominated the world's attention like terrorism. Yet many people are unaware of its background and characteristics. This course would define terrorism, briefly examine its origins in ancient and medieval history and delve into current issues relevant to the war on terrorism.
