This course introduces psychology by exploring several frameworks, such as biological, behaviourist/learning, cognitive, and psychodynamic theories. The emphasis is on examining the ways in which various perspectives have influenced our understanding of how people act, think, and feel, and the contributions that each has made to psychology as a discipline. Several topics will be covered, including: research and methodology, biological and perceptual processes, altered states of consciousness, learning, memory, language development, intelligence, personality, abnormal behaviour, health, and social determinants of behaviour.
