Students will examine embryology, anatomy and physiology required to incorporate knowledge of fetal and maternal pathological processes and conditions. Emphasis is placed on fetal pathologies and anomalies and maternal complications with a focus on the description of the condition, its clinical presentation, typical and atypical sonographic appearance(s), the differential diagnosis involved and the optimum scanning techniques in imaging the abnormality and associated findings. Students will continue to develop and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills in the planning of the examination through to the technical analysis of sonographic data.
