This course integrates relational anatomy, cross sectional anatomy and physiology with sonographic principles of a normal obstetric evaluation. Emphasis is placed on normal embryonic and fetal anatomy and development throughout all three trimesters. Topics include; guidelines for antepartum obstetric evaluation, safety of ultrasound and Doppler assessment, lab values in early pregnancy, obstetrical measurements, determining gestational age, normal maternal development and biophysical profile. Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate sonographic scanning techniques in the mandatory lab component of this course.
