This course will introduce the student to important concepts of health and safety required to work in a health care setting. Foundational knowledge of oral, written and nonverbal communication skills as it relates to the provision of quality patient care will be explored. The student will reflect upon diversity of cultural beliefs, values and practices that impact health and illness. Students will begin to develop critical thinking skills required for screening, preparing and assessing the ultrasound patient through clinical history acquisition. There will also be a review of the student clinical handbook and the clinical competencies required in preparation for the first clinical rotation
