The student will learn and develop skills and sonographic techniques necessary to image abdominal structures with a focus on normal anatomy. Students will integrate relational anatomy, cross sectional anatomy and physiology with sonographic principles. Students will also be introduced to the fundamentals of pathological processes and common sonographic presentations of abdominal pathologies. In the mandatory lab setting, the recognition of normal sonographic findings, technical analysis of sonographic data and technical impression for physician interpretation will be introduced.
