Mechanical Ventilation II

Students will continue to explore mechanical ventilation including initiation, maintenance and management of conventional ventilation. Evaluation of and response to relevant laboratory results, chest x-rays, auscultation, and lung mechanics will be discussed. Other topics include transitioning from volume targeted to pressure targeted ventilation, non-invasive ventilation equipment and initiation, patient positioning and use of medications and substances in mechanical ventilation. Students will apply their learning in the laboratory environment.
