Students gain a practical understanding for pharmacology in the practice of respiratory therapy. Basic pharmacological principles are discussed. Emphasis is placed on agents used in cardiopulmonary management of patients. Agents are compared for their indications/contraindications, mode of action, dosage and administration route, onset and duration of action, therapeutic effects and side/toxic effects. General knowledge is gained regarding antibiotics, muscle relaxants, analgesics, CNS active agents, and diuretics.
