Students are introduced to the fundamentals of positive pressure mechanical ventilation including relevant terminology and definitions. Basic principles of mechanical ventilators and the interaction of ventilators with patients are examined. Students will explore the interactions and operating principles of various aspects of ventilators such as triggering, cycling, ventilation modes, and alarms.
