This course is designed to familiarize the student with the design, layout and operation of high pressure boilers as well as the associated boiler parts and fittings, piping and valves, and all the related safety devices. Reference is made to the ASME Section I and IV code to ensure compliance and safe/efficient operation. The basic preparation of a high pressure boiler for start-up, the start-up and shutdown procedures and the routine safe and efficient operation of a packaged boiler is covered. Students are visually introduced to high pressure boilers in a power plant environment and are able to apply the components covered in the lectures to the real thing.
