This course is designed to familiarize the student with heat engines, prime movers, steam turbines, cooling towers, gas turbines, gasoline and diesel engines. Studies include theoretical applications, the principles of operation, equipment construction and the components to ensure safe and efficient operation. Types of pumps and principle of operation are covered. Air compressors and lubrication operation principles are taught. Finally, the course covers the types of plants found in the power engineering field such as hot oil systems, gas plants, pulp and paper mills, refineries, sawmills and food processing plants.
