Hands-on study of introductory level operation, maintenance and testing activities encountered in a power plant, boiler and auxiliaries, prime movers, heat engines, compressors, pumps, and cooling towers. Other aspects include piping, instrument drawing applications, safety and administrative functions related to running a power plant at the 4th class level. CSA and ASME codes as well as other relevant legislation to Power Engineering are referenced and adhered to. Focus will be on the basic preparation of high pressure boilers for the start-up and shutdown procedures as well as their routine, safe and efficient operations.
