This course allows the Power Engineering student to develop practical skills required in day to day aspects of their occupation at the 4th class level. The aspects include basic training in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, equipment, and maintenance of building systems. The use of ladders, rigging practices, methods of hoisting and proper knot tying is practiced in the laboratory setting. The student is introduced to power piping principles including cutting, threading, and proper identification of fittings, steam traps and valves. Students will learn techniques to effectively convey their ideas using multiple modes of communication including standard industry three-way communication, visual communication through drawing, drafting techniques and sketching.
